ABSTRACT

Byron, Child e Harold, IV (1818); review by? George Croly, Literary Gazette, May 2, 1818, pp. 273-277. Since the Literary Gazette had not been in existence when the earlier cantos of Childe Harold appeared, the reviewer takes this opportunity to write at greater than usual length on the strengths and weaknesses of the concluding canto. On page 274 the Tory reviewer takes fire at Byron’s lack of patriotism, but most of the review treats literary matters.
