ABSTRACT

Byron, Marino Faliero (1821); review by William Hazlitt, London Magazine, III (May 1821), 550–554. Hazlitt is correct in his awareness that Marino Faliero was a drama of the contemporaneous scene, rather than a true historical drama, but he failed to recognize how Byron had used the situation from Venetian history as an analogue and fable of events in modern Italy and England.
