ABSTRACT
The masthead of the MANCHESTER IRIS gives most of its vital statistics. It ran from February 2, 1822, through December 27, 1823. The format of the weekly suggests the Literary Gazette, but the miscellaneous character of its contents suggests the Examiner of this period. Basically the Iris was a provincial weekly newspaper with a strong literary focus.
