Wordsworth, Poems … including The Borderers (1842); Eclectic Review, 4th Series, XII (Nov. 1842), 568–579. This late review is included to show how Wordsworth was regarded in the age of Tennyson. He is now treated as a classic whose appearance in literary history was assured but whose exact placement was under discussion. The Eclectic Review’s evangelical Christian tone remains unfettered in its attack on the Oxford movement (see page 579).
