ABSTRACT

Coleridge, Christabel, Kubla Khan, The Pains of Sleep (2nd edition, 1816); Antijacobin Review, L (July 1816), 632–636. This review was clearly part of the Antijacobin’s attack on Byron (see Byron reviews). Such hostile notices did not keep John Murray from issuing a third edition of the Christabel volume in 1816, but they affected the tone of Coleridge’s later publications – particularly Biographia Literaria.
