ABSTRACT

[Wordsworth and Coleridge] Lyrical Ballads (1798); British Critic, XIV (Oct. 1799), 364–369. This, the best of the early reviews of Lyrical Ballads, was once attributed to the Rev. Francis Wrangham (a friend of both Wordsworth and Coleridge). The attribution has been challenged recently, especially by Robert S. Woof (in Ariel, I, April 1970, 19). Whoever the reviewer was, he was probably an acquaintance of Coleridge at least (see pp. 365–366).
