ABSTRACT

Wordsworth, The White Doe of Rylstone (1815); British Review, VI (Nov. 1815), 370–377. Richard Glover’s Leonidas (p. 371) was an epic poem first published in 1737; on the same page, Erasmus Darwin, poet and naturalist, was the grandfather of Charles Darwin. On page 372, the reviewer alludes to Matthew “Monk” Lewis’ Tales of Terror and Tales of Wonder and to the romances of Scott and Byron.
