ABSTRACT

Coleridge [and Southey], Fall of Robespierre (1794); Critical Review, 2nd Series, XII (Nov. 1794), 260-262. Though Coleridge wrote only the first act of this tragedy and Southey wrote the other two, Coleridge supervised the printing and sales of the volume, and only his name appears on the title page. Since the printing was not completed until the end of September, Coleridge must have employed the influence of friends to obtain so early a review. Coleridge himself is believed to have written several reviews (on non-poetic subjects) for the Critical Review during the mid-1790’s.
