ABSTRACT
This chapter examines the intra-Palestinian factional hostilities between Hamas and Fatah of 2007. It analyses whether the broadcasters display a different attitude to the intra-Palestinian fighting than to the Israeli-Palestinian fighting and whether the coverage of these localised events have a global dimension. It discusses the extent to which the warring parties are perceived as equal participants. It examines whether the broadcasters attach particular and on-going significance to any new geopolitical allegiances which have emerged in the post-Cold War and post-9/11 context, in turn, addressing how the broadcasters define the region.
