ABSTRACT

Nonverbal communication occurring in medical contexts, legal settings, built environments, and virtual places including social media is addressed. Specifically, doctors and how they use nonverbal communication withapatient is examined. Next, we look at several key court decisions and how the use of nonverbal communication impacted the outcomes of those court trials and legal hearings. The chapter then looks at how classrooms are designed and how companies and organizations structure space for employee success. Last, we examine the use of social media and virtual places, how use of emoticons, face time, Skype, and other modern technologies have used nonverbal elements to improve how we communicate with one another.
