Itiswidelybelievedthatthereisanassociationbetweendruguseandcriminal behaviour.Thisbeliefisbasedontheresultsofasubstantialbodyofacademic researchwhichhasshownthatdruguseandcriminalbehaviourarerelated.This beliefisalsobasedonpopularwisdomasrevealedinthestereotypeofthedrugcrazedaddictwhowillstopatnothingtoobtaindrugsormoneyfordrugs.However, thewealthofevidencesupportingadrugs-crimeconnectionbeliesapovertyof knowledgeinourunderstandingofthisassociation.
