ABSTRACT

Ethical theories and moral practices are truly tested in their political contours. Whether it is theoretical ethics or ethics as quest for selfhood, both the approaches are entwined with individual as well as socio-political dimension of human existence. At the same time, these approaches agree that a free, authentic and responsible individual can give rise to a just and peaceful society and polity. The moral transformation of the society starts with the first person. Since the societies and nations comprise individuals, addressing the individual’s concern is addressing the concerns of society and the polity.
