ABSTRACT

All marketing is an honest relationship between a seller and a buyer where both obtain what they want. Tourism marketing is used to develop the sector as it provides economic benefits to the community. Although marketing is a new field of academic study compared to such fields as literature or philosophy, marketing is not a new human activity. The economic benefits will not be shared with the community unless there is an emphasis on community involvement and encouragement of local tourism entrepreneurship. Tourism started to develop more widely in Europe during the mid-nineteenth century. Tourism increased because more people could afford to travel. Travel to a city or town includes unique experiences that differentiate it from other types of tourism. The marketing of places in the United States can be traced back to the selling of the Western frontier to American citizens.
