ABSTRACT

Exploring more the interplay between culture and politics, this chapter first considers both psychotherapy and research as cultural practices and how politics informs this in the case of the decision of the UK’s National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) as to what psychological therapies to endorse. This article is a development of Loewenthal, 2015b and concludes with potential alternative approaches, which are expanded on in Loewenthal, 2015a.
