ABSTRACT

To contextualize Deleuze’s philosophy, this introduction includes a brief biographical sketch of his life in addition to detailing his major works. It also draws attention to Deleuze’s philosophy as constructivist, pragmatist, and empirical to further elucidate the uses of his work for the analysis of the physically active body. This chapter also provides an overview of previous Deleuzian research that has analyzed sporting bodies. It concludes with an overview of the content of this book.
