ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the key concepts in Internal Family Systems (IFS), as well as the steps of the protocol. It focuses on some clinical vignettes that illustrates IFS with children. The chapter suggests that framing the work as being a 'detective duo' highlights the concept of curiosity, which is a major tenet of IFS therapy. It also establishes the working alliance necessary to any child therapy. IFS child therapy builds on the foundation of child-centered play therapy.
