ABSTRACT

As soon as I know my timetable and have picked up the exam results, I can give some thought to the year. Just as a good driver does not look at the edge of the bonnet when she is driving but focuses as far ahead as she can see on the road, so too it is vital that we focus on our year as a whole – not just the week ahead. Teaching is a long game and it requires that we get organised. This chapter is about ensuring that we survive the year and, more than that, do so without any major balls falling to the fl oor.
