ABSTRACT

Teaching in an imaginary parallel universe where you are left alone by managers, not shamed by league tables or hectored by dim politicians and journalists is a very simple job. It really is ‘mark, plan, teach, repeat’ (Morrison McGill 2015, p. 5). Sometimes, in a full day’s teaching, the above can occur, even in our fl awed universe. On other days we have admin to contend with. This chapter deals with the mechanics of surviving the day as a teacher.
