ABSTRACT
From the ideal court of Urbino we now move to the city of Venice and to Cesare Vecellio’s world in and of costumes (Plate 1). Vecellio published his costume books in two editions, the first in 1590, Degli Habiti antichi e moderni di diverse parti del mondo in Italian (Figure 3), then an expanded bilingual version in 15984 (Figure 4).
