ABSTRACT

Fresh breezes & clear pleasant weather. At 9 AM we got under way & made Sail out of the Bay. After passing the Entry points we steer’d SW which course carried us 2 or 3 miles without the Rocks which are scatter’d along shore. These Rocks render’d the approach to the Land intricate from some smaller ones being detach’d from them. They were High & much broken & were at least 2 or 3 Leagues off the Coast. From the South entrance of the Harbor 2 the Coast falls back to the West & is much indented. I think it probable that some Shelter is to be found were that part more minutely examin’d. As we stood along shore we saw a Junk that appear’d to have come out from there. She stood over for Tzima. 3 At Noon a good observation made the Latitude 34°56′21″N when the South Entry point of the Harbor bore N22°E 8 Miles, Extremes of Corea S60°W, Islands without this Extreme and the Island of Tzima S24°E to 50°E 8 or 10 Leagues.
