ABSTRACT

Perhaps the most basic place to start looking for solutions to workplace bullying is to ask what steps individuals can take to address workplace bullying. There are potential solutions to workplace bullying at this micro level. Targets and even bystanders can and do take steps to address workplace bullies. At times, target reactions or responses are instinctual reactions to the attacks directed toward him/her. In other cases, the reactions are more calculated. Many of these target-level reactions could be defined as ameliorative measures, while others might even be considered measures to eliminate the bullying behavior or to prevent exposure to the bullying levels. The justification and rationalization was not an adequate remedy for any of these targets. Ameliorating the effects of workplace bullying through various stress release techniques also is a common individualized response for targets. Stress-relieving medication also seems to be a common theme for targets of workplace bullying.
