ABSTRACT

As construction and installation activities draw to a close and the silhouette of the facility begins to emerge, a battalion of startup and commissioning experts will replace the legions of erectors and installers at the project site. Once all the equipment is bolted into place and interconnected to the facility’s controls, someone must determine when it is safe to see whether the facility “starts.” This chapter discusses the key contractual concepts that are involved once a facility has been erected (see Figure 16.1).
