ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book looks at some of the similarities between the behaviours of individuals and organisations to show what lessons they can learn from each other. It begins with investigating individuals' perceptions of and reactions to uncertainty. In managerial decision making, we still have a very limited understanding of uncertainty and its impact on the decision maker, the decision-making process and the appropriate managerial actions. The view of uncertainty as the root cause for possibilities has been largely ignored in the different scientific fields that investigate uncertainty. Uncertainty is a fundamental concept in our daily and professional lives and understanding the impact it has is essential, especially in an organisational context. Uncertainty is rarely if not ever seen in its potential for new ventures, whether on an individual or organisational level.
