Food is the most fundamental need for human beings. Without sufficient food and nutrition, human survival and development are at risk. The right to food is a universal right, a right that ensures the survival of everyone on this planet. The right to food is a legal obligation, an obligation for all States to fully implement at the national, regional, and house-hold levels. The right to food is also a moral responsibility, a responsibility for the international community to work together and develop a set of coordinated and comprehensive strategies in order to win the fight against hunger. The right to food has a privileged place among human rights. It supersedes all other economic, social, cultural, and political rights.
