ABSTRACT

The various arguments and areas of exploration covered in the preceding chapters are brought together in an overall consideration of Trevor Jones’s career to date, alongside discussion of his most recent projects that include several with strong personal importance for the composer. Four key aspects of Jones’s compositional identity are highlighted – musical fingerprints, creative approaches, the music team and technology – and discussed in detail with reference to works from across his career. Detailed exploration of these characteristics, supported by further consultation of materials from the Trevor Jones Archive, permits a reading of Jones as screen composer and greater understanding of technology, process and production in his working methods. The conclusions drawn also consider the ways in which the findings of this investigation of Jones can be applied more widely in both the British and wider global film-music industries and the implications of these findings for further academic scholarship and professional practice.
