81There is a single printed edition of The Praise of Musicke, and hence the text presented here is of this first and only edition. Although I have preserved its spelling, capitalisation, i italics, paragraph breaks, indentation and blank lines between paragraphs, the present edition is not an exact reproduction of the original text: pagination and marginal notes ii are recorded in square brackets; catchwords which appear at the bottom of each page and the minor irregularities of spacing are ignored. iii
