ABSTRACT

Pakistanis are part of a complex community with divisions based on age, gender, caste and sect. The beliefs of parents and the biraderi are instilled in the young to behave in a particular way, like girls to leave school at 16 and stay at home people know the situation girls get forced to do a lot of thing which they don't want to like get married especially from Pakistan. Young people display their resentment towards parents and elders and argue their point, but much of this is kept secret since it is in their own interests. Most young people were unable to talk to their parents about their personal problems. This also reveals contradictions where the freedom-seeking young people are viewed as being wayward and corrupted and who have taken on kufr attitudes. It is important to remember the enormous power still held by Muslim religious leaders in contrast to religious leaders in Western societies.
