ABSTRACT

Public sector is defined in relatively broad terms to representatives of state and local governments as well as national government and international inter-governmental organizations. The framework for CSR and CSR communication differs between countries due to the variations in their legal or economic systems and thus the public perception of the companies and their role in society. CSR is about how money is made not how money is spent, says Matthias Stausberg, Head of Media Relations & Public Affairs at the UN Global Compact. The Sustainability Reporting Guidance published by HM Treasury provides the framework for public sector sustainability reporting. Dr Ralf Bsinger takes the view that greenwashing is just a new form of spin, related to sustainability issues. For Toni Symonds of the California State Assembly, CSR is not something that is extra it is about the integrity and the conscious management of the company over the long term.
