Theological anthropology and Mary

This chapter is a preliminary investigation into Bulgakov’s Mariology. The chapter introduces Bulgakov’s theological anthropology that provides a background to appreciate Bulgakov’s unique insights on the role gender plays in his Mariology. This chapter also discusses how Bulgakov applies his theology of the image of God to argue that Mary was without personal sin, even though she was not immaculately conceived.
