ABSTRACT

As revealed throughout this work, the Libyan ma’lūf holds its distinct mode of thinking and discourse with all sorts of debates shaping and influencing what occurs in all its aspects. What the ma’lūf means in contemporary Libyan society is very much determined by the way the Libyans think and talk about it, with all this intrinsically moulded by factors that from the outside may appear as irrelevant to the tradition, though in real terms they are not so.
