ABSTRACT

A model was developed from a synthesis of fratricide and wider ergonomics literature, continuing an existing emphasis on the teamwork aspects of fratricide. The investigation of methods which may be appropriate to fratricide investigation begins with an exploration of methods which have previously been utilised in fratricide research. The utility of behavioural markers in the exploration of phenomena is prominent throughout the Human Factors literature. The method provides an exploration of multiple layers and begins to explore the interaction between them. Leveson argues that the STAMP control flaws classification scheme provides a number of different levels of analysis which are capable of exploring accident causation at a number of stages of abstraction. The STAMP methodology also begins to explore the factors of the F3 model, focusing on communication flaws and inaccurate process models that affect the causality of an accident.
