ABSTRACT

Messrs Bicknell and Scott and their wives accompanied by Miss Chrystie sailed in the Endeavour Mr Kable Master, and after a very long and uncomfortable passage arrived in Eimeo. All the miss. had remarkably tedious passage, and very bad accommodations, particularly those in the two Endeavours; but all thro' mercy arrived safe on the shores of Eimeo, and were kindly received by Pomare and the people in general. They found also the brethren Nott and Hayward both well, and anxiously expecting them. The chiefs from the Leeward Islands were still at Eimeo having done nothing of consequence towards the restoration of Pomare's government. Mr D[avies] accompanied by Mr H[enry's] son Samuel began a journey round Eimeo for the purpose of preaching to the people, and to know their present condition and number. Puru had been making a tour of Eimeo accompany with many Huahine people. In the beginning of July Messrs Scott and Hayward returned.
