In the beginning of 1816 the miss. had discontinued the practice of writing down the names of the worshipper of the true [God], as it could be no longer a distinctive mark, the profession of Christianity having become national both in Tahiti and Eimeo. The miss. were daily expecting addition to their number, so that they might shortly separate and form several stations among the islands. The two chiefs of Borabora Mai and Tefaaora had sent letters by this boat, and Mai wrote to remind the miss. that Jesus Christ and his apostles did not confine their instructions to one place or country. Aug^st 15^th the Queen Charlotte having touched at Eimeo in her way to the Colony, the miss. wrote a long letter for the Directors of the Miss Society, which they sent by this conveyance, also Pomare's letter and family gods.
