ABSTRACT

Nov 10th 1808 about noon, the Perseverance sailed for Huahine with the miss. on board, with as much of their property as they could get, leaving much behind. Several of their servants also accompanied them, and many more of the natives would have also gone with them had they been admitted on board. The miss. told Idia &c. several particulars of the state of things at Tahiti, their reasons for leaving the island, and their intention of stopping at Huahine if they were agreeable, and wished it, otherwise they would proceed in the ship to some other island. Stopping at Huahine, she and her husband, and Puru his brother, were perfectly agreeable to it, and proposed they should come ashore, and be near them at Fare harbour. Messrs Henry and Davies set out on a preaching tour round both Huahines, and on the 21st they returned, they preached alternatively in every place where they could find people.
