ABSTRACT

Travel broadens the mind. The fact that it’s a cliché doesn’t mean it isn’t true. More surprisingly, travel is almost always considered fruitful, even by those who had bad experiences at the time. No matter how stressful it might have been people usually feel they learnt something from it. Indeed, in our research on effective learning experiences, travel came out as almost universally positive, from a learning perspective. That is, even where people recalled bad experiences they reflected later that these produced positive and valuable learning.
