ABSTRACT
Émile Zola was born on April 2, 1840, in a very ordinary Parisian house at no. 10 bis, Rue Saint-Joseph, a short, narrow street only a few steps from the Bourse. The event took place at eleven o'clock at night on a camp-bedstead near the bedroom window of the Zolas' apartment on the fourth floor.
