ABSTRACT

167Once, I was frustrated at my students for not being as mature as I'd like. They weren't listening; they were messing around and wasting time. I spoke to a colleague and shared my frustration. "Don't forget & they're only kids. They're nine years old," said my colleague. Kids are not "little adults", and we shouldn't expect them to behave like they are. Kids can be impulsive, lacking in focus, silly and easily distracted. Their job is to be a kid. Our job is to help them learn and grow over time.
