Health and safety in the engineering environment

32In the previous chapter we introduced specific roles and responsibilities in relation to health and safety in the workplace. We also introduced the legislation and regulations that govern working practices in engineering. This chapter takes this further by explaining how health and safety procedures are applied in an engineering environment. We look in particular at the way that hazards are identified and the procedures that must be adopted when working in dangerous situations such as underground, in confined spaces, in bad weather, or at height.
