56Most engineering activities and processes involve moving and storing materials. This chapter introduces you to the equipment and techniques used to safely lift, transport and store a wide range of different materials. When moving and storing materials, safe working practices are essential in order to eliminate the risk of damage and injury. This is particularly important when working with hazardous materials such as fuels, gases, solvents and chemicals.
