ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a detailed interview with Robin Barooah, who is also an avid self-tracker as well as meditator. Mr Barooah's insights are valuable because more than the other three interviewees, he talked about how he has used tracking techniques for self-awareness at a deeply affective level. The chapter presents transcripts from a man who tracks every move he makes to identify productivity. He used an analogue spreadsheet to track all his activities in specific categories that he created, with a primary goal of increased productivity. Ian saw great value in having an archive about every second of his life, He also told that he can know himself better than anyone else in the world. The chapter presents an interview of Bethany Soule, the co-founder of Beeminder, a self-tracking productivity 'commitment tool' that she says is 'goal tracking with teeth'.
