ABSTRACT
Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the book. We consider the broader context of shared living arrangements and how they have become increasingly common in the wake of the financial crisis and rising housing costs. We introduce the research study upon which the book is based, the Under the Same Roof project, and outline our focus and our methods. We provide an overview of the book as a whole.
