ABSTRACT
Chapter 2, which provides a background to strategic followership, focuses on the strategic role of followers. It situates followership within role theory. Generally, scholars view leadership and followership as roles. So, I extend the concept of role to the strategic level as strategic role to align with strategic followership. It outlines the various ways the strategic role emerges from various strategic management theories.
