ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the philosophical position of the study, located research methods and research questions in the theoretical framework, and explains the methodological details of the study by linking research questions to research methods. It contributes to the methodological evolution of teacher effectiveness research in the subject of mathematics. The research gaps that this study intends to fill in and the three main research questions that the study aims to address emerged from the review of relevant literatures. The chapter focuses on the technical part of the project to explain in detail such as: the research philosophy in which the study was embedded, the research design which defined and was defined by the study, specific data-collection and data-analysis methods applied, and the way different strands of findings were integrated. The application of multiple methods in addressing research questions brings together scientific evaluation of teaching and learning and multiple perspectives from various roles in and beyond the classroom.
