ABSTRACT
William Sweetland’s working life encompassed the whole of the latter half of the nineteenth century and was entirely spent in the ancient parish of St Swithin, Walcot, Bath, which extended from the north bank of the Avon up the steep hill towards Lansdown and eastwards from the centre of the city along the London Road.
