Although it is not completely unheard of for white South Africans to visit ZCC churches, one gets the impression by the reception they accorded me and my companions that it is also not an everyday occurrence. In a country where there remains much lingering suspicion between blacks and whites, there are certain barriers of perception that need to be crossed when a white person decides to make the journey into what, from a white perspective, might seem like another South Africa altogether.
