ABSTRACT

What commentary can we make about these diametrically opposed images of blacks-on the one hand, and displayed for all the world to see, as racially unmarked Americans savoring the good life, and, on the other, as targeted victims of age-old racial hatred? And further, what can be said of their connection to both the state of racial relations in America at the dawn of the twenty-first century and the status of African Americans in the society? Lastly, what is the role of myth in mediating those relations?
