ABSTRACT

Psychological Type differences provide strength to organisations through the diversity of perspectives and the different strengths and weaknesses that develop as a result of them. Marketing managers may have more intuitive preferences, exploring the possibilities and seeking new ways to develop the business. Learning and development specialists might prefer feeling over thinking, having strong values about people and wanting to make a personal impact in this area. Typical Type tensions are between functional opposites Sensing and Intuitive preferences and Thinking and Feeling preferences. Other layers of complexity in this interpersonal dynamic include: the multiple combinations of traits that people have developed, perhaps influenced by their Psychological Type; and the different modes of interpersonal contact they have developed, influenced by Type and traits. For strong and sustainable working relationships to develop there is a need to understand more about a person as a human being, including feelings and values.
