ABSTRACT

The dynamics of aging populations, immigration and the rise of the super-educated means that anyone wishing to pursue a typical middle class career will need to be far more adaptable than ever before. Avoiding the risks which commoditization poses to you and your career requires a degree of discipline and ownership that many of us have had the good fortune to avoid over the course of our working lives. Toffler argued that society, at the time he wrote the book Future Shock, was undergoing enormous structural change, and a revolution from an industrial society to a 'super-industrial society'. One of the best ways to adopt the right attitude to change is to use the principles and techniques of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). There are two elements to NLP that are of particular relevance to commoditization; understanding and changing beliefs and maintaining peak motivation and performance.
