ABSTRACT
Finally, this chapter examines the role of the judiciary in adjudicating PA-related disputes. The status quo of conservation-related lawsuits in China is discussed. The result shows that courts play a limited, even dormant, role in the resolution of disputes. The predicament of the judiciary regarding the full performance of its functions is discussed and analyzed. Recent developments in the establishment of environmental courts and the empowerment of public interest litigation are critically examined.
