ABSTRACT
A central pillar of the emancipation of women over the last 50 years has been their
greater economic independence as a result of participation in the labour market.
Analysis in the previous chapter showed, however, that even when mothers engage
in market work, or use non-parental child care, they do not substantially reduce their
time with children. In this chapter I investigate whether this finding is similar across
variation in parental education level.
